“Fate and the Fablemaidens is a Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition actual-play podcast by four friends who love goofs and games. Under the unpredictable guidance of Fate (Renee Rhodes), three adventurers – Merryweather (Rebecca Eckert), the gnome artificer; Wynni (Laura Hutton), the halfling bard; and Twyddle (Samantha Turley), the changeling barbarian – are thrown together on a fateful trip. When they set sail that day, all they planned for was a relaxing, three-day boat tour – a pleasure cruise. Instead, the world starts falling apart around them – literally.”

Good Start!
TL;DR: Fate and the Fablemaidens has done a wonderful job setting themselves apart in the D&D podcasting community. They have an excellent balance of fun, silly, and uniqueness.
The audio quality is well done, and the players (Rebecca, Samantha, and Laura) do a good job of setting themselves apart auditorily from one another with unique voices, making it easy to tell who is who. The intro/outro music is pleasant and seems to flow perfectly with the style they’re going for: Adventure! Fun! Mystery!
Two episodes in, and I like where this group is heading. The story is different (airships!) and I like the narrative a lot. The GM and the players clearly have great chemistry with each other, and seem to be able to roll with the punches together seemlessly. I adore the GM, Renee’s, voice. She is soothing, but in the way that leaves you wanting more stories, even knowing that she’ll probably lead you down a dark ally for a dangerous fight.
As is the case with many podcasts starting out, the story is a tad slow to start, but I am positive it will pick up quickly. But unlink the case with many new start podcasts, the audio issues are minor (a bit echo-y on one player’s audio). I’m excited to see where this story goes and look forward to hearing more!
